Balance file size and listening quality
Choose a lossy output such as MP3 or M4A and a lower bitrate. At 96 kbps a minute of audio is roughly 720 KB before container overhead. Already compact sources may not become smaller.

MP3 uses lossy compression and offers broad playback compatibility. 192 kbps is a useful starting point for music; a higher bitrate makes a larger file but cannot restore detail already lost in the source.
